Mary Valencic

CAREY - Mary Isabel Valencic, Holland, died at 10:15 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2008 at the University of Toledo Medical Center, Toledo. She was 80.
Born July 14, 1927 in Carey, she was a daughter of Clarence E. and Agnes E. (Mitten) Brooks. She married Frank A. Valencic on Sept. 1, 1956 and he survives in Holland.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen E. Eble.
Mrs. Valencic was a retired registered nurse. She was a graduate of St. Vincent's School of Nursing, Toledo.
She was of the Catholic faith.
A private family service will be held at a later date, with burial to be in St. Joseph Cemetery, rural Upper Sandusky.

Beatrix Zeigler

Beatrix G. Zeigler, formerly of North Hazel Street, Upper Sandusky, died at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had resided for the last three years. She was 96.
Arrangements are pending at Bringman-Clark Funeral Home.

Frank "Howard" Pryor

Frank D. "Howard" Pryor, Upper Sandusky, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 in the emergency room at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. He was 76.
Born June 4, 1931 in Wyandot County, he was a son of Maurice Fleet and Nellie Dell (James) Pryor. He married Shirley Parsell on Jan. 15, 1955 in Hardin County and she survives.
Mr. Pryor also is survived by five sons, Michael, Bruce, Jeff and Scott, all of Upper Sandusky; and Ken, Sycamore; a daughter, Wanda Hoenicke, Upper Sandusky; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joe, Marion.
He was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Clifford and Charles; two adult brothers, Lewis and Clarence; and six sisters, Thelma Swihart, Lilly Krites, Myrtle VanHorn, Ardenna Chance, Lucille Stansbery and Betty Laughrey.
Mr. Pryor worked for 27 years for Engineered Wire Products, Upper Sandusky, as a wire drawer helper. Before that, he had worked for Reiser's Fruit Farm and Freezer Queen, both in Wyandot County.
He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.
Mr. Pryor enjoyed hunting squirrels, playing softball, doing word puzzles, following the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Reds and spending time with his boxer pup, Pugs.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Steward officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by local service organizations in Upper Sandusky. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mary "Ginny" Snyder

SYCAMORE - Mary V. "Ginny" Snyder, 3061 CH 6, Sycamore, died at 8:46 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Ruffing Family Care Center, rural Tiffin. She was 92.
Born Aug. 24, 1915 in King, Pa., she was a daughter of Alfred G. and Carrie (Claycomb) Carn. She married Russell W. Snyder on Aug. 8, 1937 and he survives.
Mrs. Snyder also is survived by two sons, Kenneth H., El Cojon, Calif.; and Dennis J., Tiffin; a daughter, Sandra L. Snyder, Melmore; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ray Carn, Melmore.
Mrs. Snyder was a 1933 graduate of Melmore High School and retired from General Electric, Tiffin, in 1978 after 35 years. She also helped on the family farm.
She was a member of Melmore United Methodist Church.
She also was a member of the Century Club, GE-Wots of Tiffin General Electric and a 50-year district commissioner of the Black Swamp Cub Scout Council. She was the den mother of the first cub scout pack in Melmore.
She also was a member of Cornelia Chapter No. 93 OES, Republic, and was a former Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. Snyder loved to go boating and fishing, spend time with her grandchildren, play with her dog, Cricket, and have a garden. She also loved all types of flowers.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Melmore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard Huston officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery, Seneca County. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Walton-Moore Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral at the church Thursday.
Memorials may be made to Melmore United Methodist Church.

Mary Duffin

CAREY - Mary L. Duffin, 312 Chief St., Upper Sandusky, died at 12:25 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community. She was 72.
Born Oct. 5, 1935 in Carey, she was a daughter of George and Gertrude (Shine) Ritter. She married Marvin E. Duffin in 1978 in Cheboygan, Mich., and he died Feb. 16, 2003.
Mrs. Duffin is survived by two brothers, Jack Ritter, Carey; and Richard (Paula) Ritter, Upper Sandusky; three sisters, Shirley Rife, Sycamore; Carol (Gary) McKee, Greenville; and Linda (Henry) Weatherholtz, Carey; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Marguerite Beidelschies, Dorothy Stansbery, Florence Stansbery and Jane Harding; and two brothers, Paul Ritter Sr. and David Ritter, who died in infancy.
Upon her husband's death, Mrs. Duffin moved back to Upper Sandusky to live with her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Paula Ritter.
She worked at a furniture factory in Cheboygan for 17 years.
Mrs. Duffin was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Cheboygan. She and her husband participated in the Labor Day walk across the Mackinac Bridge.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home with the Rev. Mary Curtis officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey. Visitation is from 12-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
