James
Minehart Sr.

James "Jim" E. Minehart Sr., Lancaster, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster. He was 83.
Born Dec. 7, 1924 in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was a son of Lucas and Irene (Coke) Minehart Sr. He married Lois Bateman on June 29, 1952 in Lancaster and she died Nov. 7, 2006.
Mr. Minehart is survived by a son, James E. (Carol) Minehart Jr., Upper Sandusky; a daughter, Rebecca S. Minehart, Pickerington; two grandchildren, J.J. (Michele) Minehart and Sarah (Rick) Bendele, both of Upper Sandusky; and a great-granddaughter, Aleena Grace Bendele.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina L. Minehart; a brother, Lucas Minehart Jr.; and two sisters, Janet Evans and Ruth Pulsinelli.
Mr. Minehart was a 1944 Lancaster High School graduate and attended Ohio University. He was a machinist for more than 37 years, having retired from Boeing, Columbus.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
He was a member of Fairfield Christian Church.
Mr. Minehart also was a member of American Legion Fairfield Post No. 11.
He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, vegetable and flower gardening, especially raising roses, and spending winters in Florida.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Church, Lancaster, with the Rev. Mark Barbee officiating. Burial will take place in Forest Rose Cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church.

Lois Gregory

Lois A. Gregory, Upper Sandusky, died at 2:40 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008 at Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community North Campus. She was 84.
Born Jan. 28, 1924 in Hardin County, she was a daughter of Elmer P. and Beatrice F. (Albert) Bolenbaugh. She married Frank Gregory on May 5, 1947 and he survives in Upper Sandusky.
Mrs. Gregory also is survived by a daughter, Carol Hill, Upper Sandusky; a son, Gary Lee Gregory, Pickens, S.C.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, David Rex Bolenbaugh, Forest.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois K.; and a brother, Paul.
Mrs. Gregory was the owner and operator of Lois' Beauty Shop, Marseilles, for 20 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Upper Sandusky.
She was a former member of Eastern Star for 30 years and a Red Cross volunteer.
Mrs. Gregory enjoyed reading, knitting, coloring and was a dog lover.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bringman-Clark Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Stumbo officiating. Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery, Marseilles. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Jane Owens

Jane E. Owens, our loving mother and friend to many, slipped the bounds of earth at 6:26 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008 at Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community to be with her family in heaven. She was 75.
Born March 12, 1933, she was a daughter of Martha C. (Gaver) and the late Harold G. Williams. She married Ora A. Owens and he died.
Mrs. Owens is survived by a daughter, Lorena Walton; four sons, Ora "Pork" Owens Jr., Randy Owens, Tim (Kelly) Owens and James (Mary Lou) Owens, all of Upper Sandusky; nine grandchildren and many friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Williams.
Mrs. Owens attended Sycamore High School.
She was a homemaker and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse and a State Tested Nurses Aide, where she enjoyed her relationships with her patients.
Mrs. Owens enjoyed raising flowers and gardening, babysitting, shopping and traveling.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairhaven Community Chapel with the Rev. Mary Curtis officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission Cemetery.

William Lorenz

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - William Aaron Lorenz, Annapolis, Md., and formerly of Memphis, Tenn., Catonsville, Md., and Ohio, died April 2, 2008 at his home, of complications from Parkinson's Disease.
Born Aug. 13, 1927 in Coshocton, he was a son of Aaron and Ivy Lorenz. He married Joyce Chandler in 1951 and she survives.
Mr. Lorenz also is survived by a daughter, Karen Karos, Annapolis; two grandsons, Alexander and Nicholas Karos, Annapolis; and a sister, Diann Souslin, Coshocton.
During Wold War II, he served in Germany with the United States Army Adjutant General's Office and was honorably discharged in 1947.
In 1974, Mr. Lorenz obtained a bachelor of science degree from the University of Baltimore and in 1978, he received a master of business administration degree from the University of Memphis.
He was an industrial traffic manager for W.R. Grace Co., Baltimore, Md., and Memphis, Tenn., for 40 years. After retiring from Grace in 1990, he joined the Tire Battery Corp.
He was an active member of Eastport United Methodist Church.
Mr. Lorenz volunteered at Eastport Elementary School.
He enjoyed waterfowl woodcarving, gardening and spending time with his family. He was an avid collector of whistles.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Marseilles United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tim Benjamin officiating. Burial will follow at Chandler Cemetery, rural Marseilles.
