Clarence Dunlap

SYCAMORE - Clarence Eugene Dunlap, rural Lykens, died Saturday, March 29, 2008 at his residence. He was 86.
Born March 21, 1922, he was a son of Charles and Susie (Fritz) Dunlap. He married Ruth Hushour on Nov. 22, 1947 and she survives.
Mr. Dunlap also is survived by three daughters, Sherry Cover, Nevada; and Becky Gottfried and Dawn Stuckert, both of Bucyrus; a son, Chris Dunlap, Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren, Todd Cover, Heidi Kauffman, Heather Gottfried, Holly Motil, Rob Gottfried, Shandell Dilgard, Shannon Dunlap, Shawn Dunlap, Brandon Kocher, Brittany Kocher, Tyler Stuckert, Travis Stuckert, James Kennedy and Joey Kennedy; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Verlin and Robert.
Mr. Dunlap served the United States military during World War II in General McArthur's headquarters in Japan and the Phillipines. Upon his return, he worked as a farmer and later was employed at the General Motors' Mansfield plant for more than 51 years.
He was a member of Enterprise Lodge No. 579 Fand A.M., Sycamore; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Toledo; and the Chapter, Council and Commandery of Tiffin. He also traveled to Columbia, South America, to serve on a Men for Mission trip.
Mr. Dunlap earned his pilot's license and enjoyed flying. He also liked to work with tractors and other machinery, and often could be found out in his workshop or around the farm completing various projects. He enjoyed roller skating, swimming and teaching many of his children and grandchildren those activites.
The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Melmore United Methodist Church with the Revs. Howard Huston and Adam Lake officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery, Seneca County, where a military graveside service will be conducted by Sycamore American Legion Post No. 250. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, and one hour before the funeral service Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Melmore United Methodist Church, The Potter's House, Bucyrus, or Home Care Matters, Galion.
