Melvin Ross

SYCAMORE - Melvin H. Ross, 5866 Ohio 231, Sycamore, died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008 in the emergency room of Tiffin Mercy Hospital. He was 85.
Born May 6, 1922 in Crawford County, he was a son of Henry Ross and Nora (Beal) Ross. He married Nelda Starner in 1947 and they divorced. He later married Joan (Horick) Beach on March 31, 1974 and she survives.
Mr. Ross also is survived by four daughters, Wilma Runion, rural Sycamore; Peggy Tiller, Galena, Mo.; Betty Wages, Forest; and Kathy Smith, Vero Beach, Fla; three sons, Larry, Nevada; and Mike and Jim Beach, rural Sycamore; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Lambright, Crestline.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Myron and Richard Ross; a sister, Katherine Ross; and a grandson, Matthew Beach.
Mr. Ross served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS New York and USS Alaska.
He was a self-employed welder.
Mr. Ross was a member of Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church, Upper Sandusky.
He also was a member of Bucyrus American Legion Post No. 181, Bucyrus Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1078 and the USS Alaska (CB-1) Reunion.
He enjoyed attending antique tractor and car shows.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. David Roach officiating. Burial will be at Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery, Crawford County, where military graveside services will be conducted by Sycamore American Legion Post No. 250. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Wyandot County Heart Support Group, Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church or Sycamore EMS.

Robert Gonzales

CAREY - Robert Gonzales, Nevada, died at 4:35 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008 at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. He was 43.

FOREST - Patricia A. Rizor, of West Dixon Street, Forest, died at 10:39 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton. She was 62.

Suzanne Rice

SYCAMORE - Suzanne K. Rice, 6897 W. CH 59, McCutchenville, died at 6:05 a.m. Sunday, March 23, 2008 at her residence. She was 67.
Born March 15, 1941 in Sycamore, she was a daughter of Harold E. and Neva P. (Forsyth) Schryer. She married David E. Rice on May 28, 1966 and he survives.
Mrs. Rice also is survived by a daughter, Andra Meyer, Carmel, Ind.; a grandson, Mason Meyer; and three brothers, Dan and Harold Schryer, Upper Sandusky; and Jim Schryer, Holiday, Fla.
Mrs. Rice was a 1959 graduate of Mohawk High School. She formerly worked at the former U.S. Commission Company, Upper Sandusky and J.C. Penney's, Tiffin. She also was a homemaker.
Mrs. Rice was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, McCutchenville.
She also was a member of Trinity UCC's Women's Guild and William Myers Chapter No. 196 OES., McCutchenville.
Mrs. Rice sang in the church choir, helped with funeral dinners and served on various committees within the church.
She enjoyed going to Lakeside and camp in the campground there. Mrs. Rice also enjoyed reading, working in her flower garden and baking pies.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity UCC with the Rev. Roy Howell officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Visitation is from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Walton-Moore Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, McCutchenville.

Alma Risner

CAREY - Alma Marie Risner, of Fostoria and formerly of rural Carey, died at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Fostoria Community Hospital. She was 86.
