Arlene Burks

SHELBY - Arlene M. Burks, East Main Street, Shelby, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at MedCentral-Shelby Hospital. She was 73.
Born May 24, 1934 in Richland County, she was a daughter of Joseph T. and Erma M. (Kleinknecht) Monn. She married Vernon E. Burks on Feb. 27, 1954 and he survives.
Mrs. Burks also is survived by two stepsons, Larry, Port Clinton; and Jim, Atlanta; six stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph T. Monn Jr., Crestline; a sister, Carol Moorhead, Shelby; two aunts; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred T. Monn.
A 1952 Shelby High School graduate, Mrs. Burks had worked at the Shelby Salesbook, American Greetings as a merchandiser and was a cook and cashier for 10 years with Shelby City Schools, retiring in 1994.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church.
She was entering her 50th year as a member of Penn-Ohio Model A Club, where she was the editor of “A Quail Call” magazine for eight years. She also was a member of Shelman Model A Club, Automobile Club of America, Model A Restorer’s Club and Campbell’s Collectors International.
She enjoyed Model A Fords, collecting Campbell’s soup memorabilia and playing Scrabble.
She lived in the Shelby-Plymouth area all of her life.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. today at Barkdull Funeral Home, Shelby, with the Rev. Roy Wallace officiating. Burial was in Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Visitation was Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Shelby Home and Public Health and Southern Care Hospice.

Michelle Pennington

Michelle A. Pennington, West Fairview Street, Upper Sandusky, died at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital emergency room at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008. She was 39.
Arrangements are pending at Bringman-Clark Funeral Home.
