Marjorie McNary
CUYAHOGA FALLS - Marjorie Lea McNary died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008. She was 84.
She was born in McCutchenville. She married Richard O. McNary.
She is survived by two sons, Rick and Stephen; two daughters, Teri Byrley; and Sheri McNary; six grandchildren, Robert Moser, Ashleigh Byrley, Shannon and Jena Strzalkowski and Lauren and Samantha McNary; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Donna Shuman, Hattie Wallace and Marian Erwin.
Mrs. McNary was a graduate of Ohio State Dental School as a dental hygenist at Grant Hospital Nursing School, where she graduated magna cum laude as a registered nurse. She was the office manager of her husband's dental practice in Cuyahoga Falls.
She served in the United States Navy Nurse Corps during World War II, and was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Center, Chicago. She retired as a lieutenant commander.
She attended Stow Alliance Fellowship Church.
Mrs. McNary was active in the Akron Dental Association, was a past president of the Ohio State Women's Alumni Association and was a member of American Legion Post No. 496.
She was a past president of the Wyoga Lake Women's Club. She coached Stow girls softball and lead her team to a state championship.
She lived in the Stow area most of her life.
The funeral was March 3. Burial was in Chesnut Hill Cemetery, Cuyahoga Falls, where full military rites were conducted.

SYCAMORE - Judith A. Smith, formerly of 3753 TH 33, Sycamore, died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community. She was 75.
Born March 17, 1932 in Cincinnati, she was a daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (Kenderdine) Burkman. She married D.P. Smith on March 7, 1957 and he survives.
Mrs. Smith also is survived by two sons, Phillip P., Farmington, Conn.; and Tad M., Houston, Texas; a daughter, Sally S. Wildman, Columbus; four grandchildren; and a brother, George K. Burkman, Cincinnati.
Mrs. Smith was a 1950 graduate of Withrow High School, Cincinnati, and graduated in 1954 from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in home economics. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ.
She was a former member of the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Sandusky, Seneca and Wyandot Counties, the Mohawk Board of Education and the Wyandot County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
Mrs. Smith loved to travel, listen to all kinds of music, cook and spend time with her family.
The funeral is private. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. There is no visitation.
Memorials may be made to Angeline School Endowment Fund, Wyandot Health Foundation or Sycamore United Church of Christ.

CAREY - Mary Jo Haferd, rural Carey, died at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. She was 79.
Born Jan. 23, 1929 in Tiffin, she was a daughter of Albert J. and Rosella Marie (Bentz) Koby. She married Neil C. Haferd on Sept. 16, 1950 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, and he died Dec. 31, 2003.
Mrs. Haferd is survived by three sons, Lawrence, Dennis and James, all of rural Carey; and a daughter, Shirley Depinet, Republic; eight grandchildren, Kevin, Jason, Jeff, Nate and Joshua Haferd, Jennifer Conley and Derek and Lydia Depinet; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ron Koby; and two sisters, Erma McLaughlin, Fostoria; and Anna Boyce, Livonia, Mich.
A 1947 New Riegel High School graduate, Mrs. Haferd was a homemaker and assisted with the family meat processing business.
She was a member of All Saints Parish-St. Nicholas Chapel, Frenchtown, where she was active in the Rosary Altar Society.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at All Saints Parish-St. Nicholas Chapel with the Rev. Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Frenchtown. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, where a Christian wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m.

Robert E. Parmelee, Cumming, Ga., died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008 at his residence. He was 82.
Born April 26, 1925 in Lackawanna, Pa., he was a son of Frank Richard and Francis H. (Dixon) Parmelee. He married Vesta J. Fritz on June 19, 1954 in New Bremen and she died March 24, 2001.
Mr. Parmelee is survived by two sons, Christian G., Cumming; and Clayton L., Hermosa Beach, Calif.; a sister, Alice Goodall, Scranton, Pa.; and a brother, Frank Parmelee, Cuyahoga Falls.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Ross.
Mr. Parmelee grew up in Barberton. He graduated with an associate of business degree from Heidelberg College in 1950, for which he subsequently served on the board of trustees for 32 years. He received a master of business administration degree from Harvard University in 1958. Following packaging industry job positions from salesman to vice president, Mr. Parmelee's career included directing PMM and Company's New York region's marketing and economic consulting services and SVP and CMO for a group of Control Data and CCC Insurance and Financial Services companies. Since retirement, he consulted for Service Corporation of Retired Executives and prepared taxes for H&R Block.
He served on a United States Navy destroyer during World War II, participating in invasions of Normandy, southern France and Okinawa.
Mr. Parmelee was a member of Fellowship Bible Church, Roswell, Ga.
He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Mensa International and Intertel IQ Associations.
He was listed in Who's Who in Finance and Industry and in Who's Who in Insurance.
Mr. Parmelee will be inducted in the Barberton school district's academic and career hall of fame in April.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bringman-Clark Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Howell officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral Saturday.
Memorials may be made to Heidelberg College, American Cancer Society or an organization of the donor's choice.
