Norman Truesdell
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Norman Clinton Truesdell, Portland, Texas, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 after a bout with kidney cancer. He was 67.
Born May 15, 1940 in Fort Wayne, Ind., he was a son of Jim and Ella Truesdell. He married Marleen and she survives in Portland, Texas.
Mr. Truesdell also is survived by a daughter, Marie Truesdell, Indianapolis; a brother, Jim, Sacramento, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Truesdell grew up in Upper Sandusky and graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1958. In 1963, he received a bachelor of science degree in soil chemistry from Ohio State University, where he was on the football team, coached by Woody Hayes. He graduated from Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa, with a master's degree in theology in 1967. While in seminary, he was arrested and held in a packed paddy wagon for marching with Martin Luther King Jr. in 1965 in Selma, Ala.
Mr. Truesdell and his wife moved to Texas in 1967, where Mr. Truesdell served as a Lutheran minister at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonewall, Texas, until 1969. During that time period, he started one of the first Head Start programs in Texas and worked as an aide to President Lyndon Johnson within the office of equal opportunity.
The Truesdells adopted their daughter in August 1969. Mr. Truesdell left the ministry and became an entrepreneur, and was known for his success and knowledge of real estate. He was active in local politics, serving on the Portland City Council and Gregory Portland Board of Education.
After converting to Catholicism more than 25 years ago, Mr. Truesdell became an active member of the Corpus Christi Cathedral.
He volunteered at a food bank and helped provide opportunities to people living on the streets.
Mr. Truesdell was an avid fisherman, spending some of his summers fishing on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, with his friends and family. He enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places, people and ideas.
A funeral Mass was held Feb. 25 at Corpus Christi Cathedral.
Arrangements were handled by Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Service, Inc., Corpus Christi.

FOREST - Betty J. Wetherill, CH 2, Forest, died at 1:10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton. She was 87.
Born Nov. 21, 1920 in Jackson Township, she was a daughter of Ralph and Hazel (Musgrave) Derringer, and a stepdaughter of Marie (Packer) Derringer. She married Delmar A. Wetherill on Oct. 12, 1940 and he died Dec. 7, 1979.
Mrs. Wetherill is survived by two sons, Harold E., Utica; and Royce C., Forest; a daughter, Sharon A. Shaw, Troy; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Louis and Robert Derringer; and a sister, Lucille Musgrave.
A 1938 Forest High School graduate, Mrs. Wetherill was the salutatorian of her class. She was a homemaker.
She was a life member of the former Union Chapel Church, and had been attending Patterson United Methodist Church. She was a former pianist and Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. Wetherill enjoyed gardening, canning, growing flowers, cooking, crocheting and doing lawn work. She also liked sitting in her swing, listening to gospel music, reading, especially her Bible, doing devotions, spending time with her dog, Holly, and spending time with her family.
The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Clark-Shields Funeral Home, Forest, with the Rev. John Musgrave and lay pastor Tim Garmon officiating. Burial will be in Hueston Cemetery, Forest. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The Rev. Carl E. Harr, North Seventh Street, Upper Sandusky, died at 7:50 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was 85.

FOREST - Michael L. Frisch, TH 64, Forest, died at 10:28 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008 at St. Rita's Hospital, Lima. He was 50.

Doris M. Schoenberger, formerly of CH 96, Salem Township, Upper Sandusky, and more recently of Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died at 1:35 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at the nursing facility. She was 86.
Born Dec. 31, 1921 in Wyandot County, she was a daughter of Harvey D. and Catherine (Vent) Lawrence. She married Ivan S. Schoenberger on Aug. 12, 1941 in Upper Sandusky and he died March 26, 1993.
Mrs. Schoenberger is survived by two sons, William H., Upper Sandusky; and Daniel I., Dublin; two daughters, Marilyn K. Sayre, McCutchenville; and Barbara S. Reinhard, Wharton; six grandchildren, Doyle Schoenberger, Columbus; Dawn Patterson, Carey; DeAnn Higgins, Mount Pleasant, Mich.; Dia Kay Seifert, Carey; Lynette Pagnard, Upper Sandusky; Michelle McLaughlin, Nevada; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl Lawrence, Palm Harbor, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Vickie Lynn Sayre; and three sisters, Mary Estep, Grace Park and Laura Belle Walberry.
Mrs. Schoenberger was a 1939 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband with the family farm.
She was a 70-year member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Upper Sandusky, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women's Guild.
She also was a member of the former Salem Grange and Epsilon Mothers' Club and was a former 4-H adviser for the Salem Hi-Lighters.
Mrs. Schoenberger loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing and making patchwork quilts for Red Cross victims through the Church World Service and for family and friends.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. today at Trinity UCC with the Rev. Brad McKibben officiating. Burial will be in Schoenberger Cemetery, Salem Township, Wyandot County. Visitation was from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Bringman-Clark Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral today at the church.
