Doris M. Schoenberger, formerly of CH 96, Salem Township, Upper Sandusky, and more recently of Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died at 1:35 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at the nursing facility. She was 86.
Born Dec. 31, 1921 in Wyandot County, she was a daughter of Harvey D. and Catherine (Vent) Lawrence. She married Ivan S. Schoenberger on Aug. 12, 1941 in Upper Sandusky and he died March 26, 1993.
Mrs. Schoenberger is survived by two sons, William H., Upper Sandusky; and Daniel I., Dublin; two daughters, Marilyn K. Sayre, McCutchenville; and Barbara S. Reinhard, Wharton; six grandchildren, Doyle Schoenberger, Columbus; Dawn Patterson, Carey; DeAnn Higgins, Mount Pleasant, Mich.; Dia Kay Seifert, Carey; Lynette Pagnard, Upper Sandusky; Michelle McLaughlin, Nevada; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl Lawrence, Palm Harbor, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Vickie Lynn Sayre; and three sisters, Mary Estep, Grace Park and Laura Belle Walberry.
Mrs. Schoenberger was a 1939 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband with the family farm.
She was a 70-year member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Upper Sandusky, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women’s Guild.
She also was a member of the former Salem Grange and Epsilon Mothers’ Club and was a former 4-H adviser for the Salem Hi-Lighters.
Mrs. Shoenberger loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing and making patchwork quilts for Red Cross victims through the Church World Service and for family and friends.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity UCC with the Rev. Brad McKibben officiating. Burial will be in Schoenberger Cemetery, Salem Township, Wyandot County. Visitation is from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Bringman-Clark Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral Monday at the church.
