FOREST — John Born Sr., of Wharton, died at 3:50 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 in his home with his family by his side after an 11-year battle with dementia. He was 79. Verify Your Subscription Born April 19, 1937 in Goshen Township, Hardin County, he was a son of the late Jacob Born and Julia Ethel (Lewallen) Born. He married the late Shirley Ann (Osborn) Born on Oct. 10, 1964 in Patterson at the church parsonage. Mr. Born is survived by five children, Shelly Ann (Mike) Dunn, of Highland Home, Alabama., John Born Jr., of Marseilles, Matt Born, of Wharton, Donna Jean (Phil) Naus, of Patterson, and Mark Allen (Terri) Born, of Wharton; 12 grandchildren, Amanda, Candice and John Dunn, all of Alabama, Jerrika and Jorden Born, of Upper Sandusky, Jesse Baker-Born, of Upper Sandusky, Ashley Naus, of Forest, Alicia (Kodie) Weaver, of Upper Sandusky, Julia Naus, of Patterson, Presley Hoover, of Carey, and Morgan McKinniss and Colin McKinniss, both of Wharton; a great grandchild, Karlie Weaver; and four sisters, Mary (Born) Sons and Ann (Born) Dilley, both of Patterson, Edith (Born) Elwood, of Forest, and Violet Born, of Kenton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jake Born, of Kenton; and two sisters, Midge (Born) Bridenstine, of Pfeiffer Station, and Ethel (Born) Zoll, of Florida. Mr. Born was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and talking on the C.B. all over the world. He loved his grandchildren very much. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
