Ira “Sleepy” R. Sigler, age 89, of Upper Sandusky, and formerly of Harpster, passed away at 4:46 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, at his residence in Upper Sandusky.
Ira was born Jan. 15, 1931, in Little Sandusky to James Ralph and Ruth A. (Hablitzel) Sigler. He married Doris Porter on Oct. 10, 1953, and she passed away April 19, 1999.
He is survived by his four children, Robert A. (Kiana) Sigler, Schaumburg, Illinois; Victoria (Robert) Lord, Cedar Park, Texas; Kevin R. (Lynn) Sigler, Schaumburg; and Karen S. (Jeff) Linnemann, Schaumburg; as well as nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Ira also is survived by three sisters, Mary Thibaut, Marion; Donna Shaffer, Upper Sandusky; and Sharon (Delbert) Hamm, Marion; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a brother, Lester. Ira was a 1950 graduate of Harpster High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He retired after 24 years as a barber, having cut hair in Western Springs, Illinois.
Ira was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky.
A visitation for Ira “Sleepy” Sigler is 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
