ARLINGTON — Gerald Laverne Lease, of Mount Blanchard, died at 4:19 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2012 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.
Born June 22, 1923, in Arlington, he was a son was the son of the late Daniel and Lydia (Rettig) Lease. On June 24, 1950, he married Donna Belle Arnold and she survives.
Mr. Lease also is survived by two sons, Ron, of Mount Blanchard; and Denny (Susan) of Bixby, Okla.; four grandchildren, Riley, Taryn, Alyson and Amanda; and two brothers, Carl, of Mount Blanchard; and Verdan Marcella, of Findlay.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, Paul.
Mr. Lease was a 1941 graduate of Mount Blanchard High School. He was employed at Westinghouse and A.O. Smith, Upper Sandusky.
He was a member of the AMVETS Post 21, Findlay; Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and the Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary.
Mr. Lease enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, sports and spending time with his grandchildren.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943-46 during World War II. He served on the U.S.S. Atule 403 submarine as a machinist mate.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington, with the Rev. Joe Chrisman officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Blanchard Cemetery, Delaware Township, Hancock County, where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Mount Blanchard United Methodist Church or Stein Hospice, Sandusky.
