CAREY — Gerald J. Gosche, of Findlay, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2012 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. He was 81.
Born in Seneca County on Jan. 10, 1931, he was a son of the late Louis P. and L. Genevieve (Gillig) Gosche. He married Teresa M. Mathern on May 24, 1952 at Our Lady of Consolation Church, Carey. She survives in Findlay.
Also surviving are his six children, MaryAnn (Gregg) Loach, Findlay; Steve (Jackie) Gosche, Hagerstown, Md.; Greg (Deb) Gosche, Carey; Jim (Deb) Gosche, Findlay; Jeff (Randy Thomas) Gosche, Richmond, Calif.; Jeremy Gosche, North Augusta, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Jerry, Gabe and Justin Gibson, Blair, Nicole, Jon, Elizabeth, Kristopher and Lindsey Gosche; two great grandchildren, Mike and Riley Gibson; brothers and sisters, Harold (Char) Gosche, Tiffin; Joan (Bernard) Karcher, Anaheim, Calif.; Alma (Earl) Schmitz, Carey; and Dick (Gretchen) Gosche, Georgetown; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, MaryJane Black.
Mr. Gosche retired in 1991 from Union Carbide, Fostoria, after 30 years.
He was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church, Findlay.
Mr. Gosche was a veteran of the Ohio National Guard of the Korean War era.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at The Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Church, Carey, with the Rev. Paul Faroh, OFM Conv., officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Carey, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Carey Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. A rosary service will be held at 7:45 p.m.
