CAREY — Donald B. “Buck” Tong, of Upper Sandusky and formerly of Carey, died at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky. He was 83.
Born Feb. 9, 1929 in Wyandot County, he was a son of the late Garfield and Anna Elizabeth (Mitchell) Tong. He married Patricia A. Dennison on Feb. 13, 1954 in Angola, Ind., and she survives in Upper Sandusky.
Also surviving are two sons, Steven G. (Chris) Tong, Joplin, Mo.; and Charles B. (Lisa) Tong, Carey; five grandchildren, Steven, Helena, Brock, Mason and Hannah; one stepgranddaughter, Maddie; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Janice Phillips, Findlay; JoAnn Hardy, Florida.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Gerald, Bill, Dean, Bob and Clifford; and one sister, Oread Phillips.
Mr. Tong was a retired body man. He owned the Carey Body Shop and worked at several area dealerships over the years.
He attended First Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky.
Mr. Tong was a former member of American Legion No. 344 and Eagle’s Aerie No. 2198, both in Carey.
He enjoyed bowling with his friends.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, with the Rev. Joe Trestor officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Bloom Cemetery, near Vanlue. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
