Beverly Gottfried

Beverly J. Gottfried, of Upper Sandusky, died at 10:12 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 at her mother’s home in Upper Sandusky surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis. She was 60.
Born July 27, 1951 in Marion, she was a daughter of Juanita (Kauble) Rieser, who survives in Upper Sandusky, and the late Howard Rieser. She married Ronald Gottfried on July 2, 1971 and he survives.
Mrs. Gottfried also is survived by two children, Jennifer (James) Ruhlen, of Upper Sandusky; and Brian (Jandie) Gottfried, of Upper Sandusky; three grandchildren, Emily, Kasen and Erica; four stepgrandchildren, Ross, Noah, Jevon and Sydnie Dible; two brothers, Mark Rieser, of Upper Sandusky; and Jonathan (Jane) Rieser, of Harpster; and two sisters, Barbara Treadway, of Upper Sandusky; and Marianne Ulrich, of Severance, Colo.
Mrs. Gottfried was a loan processor with The First Citizens National Bank in Upper Sandusky, where she had worked for the past 33 years.
She was a 1969 graduate of the Upper Sandusky High School and went on to attend Ohio State University.
Mrs. Gottfried attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She also attended a small group Bible study through Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Gottfried believed in giving back to the community, which was apparent in her volunteerism with many organizations in the Upper Sandusky community. She will be remembered by her children as loving and devoted mom and grandma who was always there for them and did not miss many of their sporting and other events throughout the years.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with the Revs. Joe Trester and Jim Stauffer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Upper Sandusky. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Monday at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, and one hour prior to the service at the church Tuesday.
Memorial contributions made be may to Hospice of Wyandot County or the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Research Association in care of Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky OH 43351.
