Alice J. Miller, age 88, of Upper Sandusky, passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Alice was born June 12, 1931, in Wyandot County to Thomas and Sarah (Kurts) Gongwer, both of whom are deceased. She married David S. Miller on March 8, 1952, in Harpster, and he passed away Jan. 29, 2016.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Jeff) Pryor, Upper Sandusky; and a son, Larry Miller, Upper Sandusky; three grandchildren, John, Lisa and Steve Vanhorn; and a great-granddaughter, Kathryn; along with a brother, Paul (JoAnn) Gongwer, Harpster; and a sister Shirley Ann (John) Gregory, Palmdale, California.
Alice was a 1949 graduate of Harpster High School and longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky.
Alice had worked at a variety of places in Upper Sandusky, from her early years at Wood’s Coffee Shop, Dible’s Menswear, and Armstrong Clothing, along with Alice’s Alterations all throughout the years.
For hobbies, she enjoyed playing bingo, Wednesday euchre at the Council on Aging, her trips to Toledo and Las Vegas, and spending time with her granddaughter’s dog Sophie.
Her true passion was her sewing, of which she did all throughout her life.
Funeral services for Alice J. Miller are 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Ken Wessler officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 11-1 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home in Upper Sandusky.
