Rick Roberts and William “Bill” Thornton will be joining the Upper Sandusky City Council, along with Councilman Scot Swinehart, who was re-elected to a second term on Tuesday.
“I’m looking forward to working with the mayor and the other council members,” Roberts, a Republican, said. “It’s going to be a challenge, but I think the members of council and the community will be up for the challenge.”
According to unofficial results from the Wyandot County Board of Elections, Roberts received 1,135 votes (21.72 percent). Thornton, also a Republican, received 1,169 votes (22.37 percent)
“I want to thank all the people of Upper Sandusky for their votes,” Thornton said. “I’ll do my best for the city of Upper Sandusky and to serve them as a city council member.”

Scot Swinehart
Swinehart, an Independent, received 1,372 votes (26.26 percent), the most of all the candidates.
“I want to thank the citizens of Upper Sandusky for giving me a chance to do this again,” Swinehart said. “I will do my best to make all the decisions for the best of the city.”
Longtime Democratic Councilman Gary Veith was not elected to a seventh term, receiving 826 votes (15.81 percent)
Democratic candidate Jon Hawkins received 723 votes (13.84 percent).
