Teenage girl killed in crash near Sycamore

Assessing the scene

Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office deputies assess the scene at a fatal accident near Sycamore early this morning. The driver was a Mohawk senior believed to be heading to school.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk senior Audrey Marie Perkins, 18, was killed in a single-car crash this morning.
The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the accident on CH 16 east of TH 136 northeast of Sycamore at 7:56 a.m.
According to Deputy Kevin Robinson, the silver Hyundai Sonata lost control heading westbound and was believed to be going to Mohawk High School. The car  went off the right side of the road and struck a pole, sending the vehicle into the field. Perkins was ejected from the car and died at the scene.
The Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department and emergency medical services were contacted at 8:02 a.m.
Power was out in the area momentarily as the crash brought down the top half of a utility pole.
The crash remains under investigation.

Fatal crash

Around 8 a.m. this morning, a single-car fatal accident occurred northeast of Sycamore. The car went off the right side of the road, struck a utility pole and broke into two large sections.
