SYCAMORE — Change is on the way in the village of Sycamore, as voters have elected a new mayor and two new council members.
Councilman Matthew Boucher will take over as mayor next year, replacing Mayor Mike Tschanen, who did not run for re-election. Boucher defeated council President Vicki Weininger, 204-149, according to unofficial results from the Wyandot County Board of Elections.
“I want to thank everyone for coming out and voting,” Boucher said. “I’m excited to serve the village of Sycamore as mayor. I urge the village residents to come to me with any concerns, ideas and questions.”

Newcomers Anthony Flood and Darcy Zimmerman were elected to village council. They will fill the seats vacated by Boucher and Councilman Dewayne Morrison, who did not seek re-election.
Zimmerman received the highest number of votes with 196 (29.79 percent), while Flood was next with 180 (27.36 percent).
“I was surprised in a good way,” Zimmerman said. “I was happy to know that that many people thought of me and thought that I could do the job well. I’m thankful for all the people that voted for me and I really appreciate it.”
Flood said “it feels great” to be elected.
“Quite honestly, I think people in this town want to see people who care about this town and people that are going to bring results and dedication to this town,” he added.

In the clerk-treasurer race, incumbent Chris Moler easily defeated Cynthia Margraf, 239-112, to win a third term.
“I want to thank everyone that voted for me,” Moler said. “I will continue to do the best job I can for the village.”
