Studying the river

Biologist Ryan Schwegman, of EnviroScience Inc., holds a mussel found Tuesday morning near the Indian Mill bridge. The study was approved by the Wyandot County Board of Commissioners last week. It will be conducted before a planned bridge replacement project at Indian Mill, located in Crane Township at river mile 76.4. The 6-acre site is located across the river from the Indian Mill Museum. It is managed cooperatively by the commissioners and features a picnic area, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The bridge replacement project through the Wyandot County Engineer’s Office is expected to begin next summer. Schwegman said the study should be completed within two weeks.
