Mohawk school board to hold special meeting

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk Local Schools Board of Education will hold a special meeting Thursday in the school’s Performing Arts Center.
Superintendent Ken Ratliff’s secretary, Deb Long, said an executive session will begin at 7 p.m., followed by a public meeting at 8 p.m.
“The purpose of the meeting would be to discuss hiring an employee,” Long said.
Superintendent Ken Ratliff confirmed the meeting is about the school board’s recent decision to not renew a volleyball coaching contract for Eric Hoover.
The April 15 decision resulted in public outrage, including a sit-in by students and circulation of a petition by Hoover supporters demanding a special school board meeting to have his contract renewed.
