Wynford music students take part in solo, ensemble contest

BUCYRUS — Wynford Junior High School entered five ensembles and nine solos in the  Marion Area Middle School Solo and Ensemble Contest recently held at Marion Pleasant.
All five ensembles — trumpet trio, mixed ensemble, flute trio, junior high vocal ensemble and sixth grade girls’ ensemble — earned top ratings. Seven of the nine soloists also came home with top ratings. The soloists earning top honors were James Gatchel, trumpet; Alexis Richardson, trumpet and vocal; Aryn Copeland, trumpet and vocal; Neva Patrick, vocal; Tara Zinser, vocal; Kenzie Kent, vocal; and Ethan Stuckey, vocal.

Wynford’s vocal music teacher Mark Heydinger accompanied his students on piano as they performed. Carolyn Richardson provided piano accompaniment for the instrumental soloists, students of Carl Copeland. Elementary Music teacher Charles Groth played piano for the sixth grade girls’ ensemble.
On May 17, the Wynford High School Pep Band will provide musical entertainment at the Crawford County sixth grade D.A.R.E. rally at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Bucyrus. The Wynford High School Band has been selected to perform the National Anthem prior to the “School Celebration Days” baseball game at Fifth Third Field in Toledo on May 21.
Several concerts are being planned as the school year comes to an end.  The junior high and high school Choirs will have their spring concert May 14 at 7 p.m. in the elementary school gymnasium. The junior high and sixth grade bands will present a concert on May 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gym.  The final concert of the year will feature the fifth grade band and the high school band at 7:30 p.m. May 17th in the high school gymnasium. All concerts are presented free and the public is invited to attend.
