BW Twirlers Baton Corps is heading to Orlando, Fla., on Feb. 13 to perform at the Twirl Mania international championships at Disney World Resorts, according to a press release from the group.
Twenty-five members from across northwest Ohio will travel to the event with 49 fans, teachers and supporters. Twirlers will march at the Magic Kingdom in a Disney parade Feb. 15 and perform at this year’s show corps “Pitch Perfect” at Wide World of Sports on Feb. 16, where they will compete against twirlers from all over the world, the release said.
BW Twirlers consists of students age 4-18 with levels of experience ranging from less than one year to 10 years. Twirlers started working on their Disney routine in February and have raised funds since February 2013 to help with expenses.
Most of the twirlers, along with head coach Holly Biller, will load a bus in Carey on Feb. 13 to start the trip.
BW Twirlers is in its 10th year of twirling under Biller, with assistants Betsy Earl, Jill Yeater, Nicole Price, Melanie Duffman and Angie Hart. The group, which includes more than 100 students, meets three nights per week in Vanlue, Carey and Upper Sandusky.
