Million tree challenge

Lions Club International President Wing-Kun Tam is challenging Lions around the world to plant one million trees this year to demonstrate the strength of the club’s global network. The Mohawk Lioness Club recently planted tree No. 8,461,677. After careful consideration, an autumn blaze maple was selected to be in Veteran’s Memorial Park in Sycamore. Several Lioness members were on hand to help with the planting. Cletebelle Barnes, Barbara Blankenship, Pauline Fadley, Mary Grundtisch, Maxine Hannam, (not pictured)  Karen Harbour, Dianne Tooley and Darcy Zimmerman assisted Clete, a landscaper from Richard’s in New Washington. The Lioness are happy to contribute to the community park and hope that the tree they have selected will be enjoyed for years to come.
