Kindergarten registration now open in USEVS district

Kindergarten registration now is open to all residents living in the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District.
Children who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1 are required by law to register and be screened. Parents may register their children on the district’s website at www.usevs.org. Click on the link labeled “Kindergarten Registration” and fill in the registration form. Parents then will receive a follow-up phone call from the school within 48 hours to set up appointment times.
Parents also may call Brenda Haubert at South Elementary School at 419-294-2304 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to set up screening appointments. After requesting appointments, parents and guardians will receive letters notifying them of their appointment times.
The last day to register is March 28.
When calling for  appointments, parents are asked to provide each child’s name, address, phone number and birth date. They must bring each child’s birth certificate or other legal proof of age, Social Security card and any applicable custody papers to screening appointments.
Shot records also are required. Immunizations are needed for diptheria, tetanus, pertussis (five doses); polio (four doses), measles, mumps and rubella (two doses after age 1); Hepatitis B (three doses); and varicella or chickenpox (two doses).
During the screening, each child will have an opportunity to meet with kindergarten teachers and participate in screenings for vision, hearing, general readiness levels and speech and language.
Representatives from the Wyandot County Health Department will give immunizations the day of the screening.
This will be the district’s only screening. Parents must register if they want their children to attend kindergarten.
