SYCAMORE — A benefit will be held for Sonny Ward, of Forest, from 12-3 p.m. Saturday at Roger’s Lake Conservation Club, 1748 Ohio 103, Sycamore.
Ward, a son of Rick and Jenny Leeth, has been a Type I diabetic for 20 years and has problems with erratic sugar readings, according to a press release about the event. He has been the sole provider for a family of five, has been deemed a candidate for pancreatic transplant and has been taken off work pending the transplant and recovery time, the release said.
The event will include raffles, a small auction, trap shoot for meat and money, a bake sale and food. Ward said the raffle will include a Ruger 10-22 camouflage semiautomatic with a scope.
According to a letter written by Ward’s doctor and submitted by the family, Ward, 40, currently is on a list for a transplant. The average waiting time on the list is 12 months, the doctor said, but it could be 12-36 months depending upon doctors finding a matching organ and Ward recovering from the surgery.
For more information, call 419-310-1412 or 419-927-2522. Ward may be reached at 740-262-3734.
