Seventeen students are the newest members of the Upper Sandusky Chapter of the National Honor Society.
The candlelight initiation service held at the Elks ballroom was led by the chapter officers Adam Duress, Jayson Clinger, Janelle Terry and Cayla Richey. Alyssa Funkhouser also assisted in the program and offered the grace for the potluck dinner.
The evening’s speaker was Rob Lee, a retired teacher and education specialist with the Wyandot County Waste Management District. Lee challenged the students to consider calling Upper Sandusky “home” following graduation from college.
Other special guests included USHS Principal Jim Clifford, junior-senior guidance counselor Kristal Reis and chapter adviser Teresa Harris.
Also in attendance were the current senior members of USHS-NHS and parents.  In addition to this year’s officers, senior members include Brice Arnold, Kyle Barth, Samantha Barth, Trevor Barth, Kelsey Collins, Brittany Fletcher, Marissa Linhart, Catherine Lok, Caitlin Sprang and Alex Thiel.
