Upper Sandusky FFA competes in pair of career development competitions

The Upper Sandusky FFA chapter recently had 11 members compete in the Northwestern Skills Classic at Sentinel Career Center in Tiffin. The Upper Sandusky FFA chapter recently competed in a pair of career development events with 18 members participating.
Eleven members attended the Northwestern Skills Classic at Sentinel Career Center in Tiffin. on April 5.
Those who attended were Mason Weaver, Elliot Frey, Michael Smalley, Austin Frey, Michelle Oliver, Emma Wilson, Josh Rigsby, Isaiah Franklin, Stavia Gottfried, Anna Frey and Ryan Mewhorter.
The event allows agricultural students to show their hands-on skills.
The team placed third in the Northwestern State Competition as Oliver placed first in personal finance, Smalley won tractor operation and Elliot Frey was the top finisher in paint and ladder.
The chapter took seven members to general livestock judging at the Ohio State Fairgrounds on March 31, where more than 700 members judge several different classes of animals, including market and breeding livestock. The members had to complete charts for animal values, weights and profits.
Those attending were Ashley Niederkohr, Jared Bell, Merril Wilson, Jesse Shane, Dillon Davidson, Lukas Summit and Josh Troxel.
Niederkohr was the top-placing chapter member for the Rams, followed by Bell, Wilson, Shane, Davidson, Summit and Troxel, respectively.
As a team, Upper Sandusky placed 73rd of 150 teams.
