The Star Theatre is announcing registration for the Alley Cats Theatre Workshop for teens.
Alley Cats is an educational experience that will review the basics of theatre but focus on more advanced training and techniques. The two-week workshop will end with a weekend of one-act performances to showcase what the Alley Cats have learned.
Lauren Miller and Reid Barth will be directing the workshop. Miller previously has helped with Star Kids, directed high school-level shows and has a background in acting. Barth also has a background in theatre, music and education.
Registration for this year’s workshop will take place at 7 p.m. May 9 at the Star Theatre. A parent or guardian needs to be present to fill out paperowrk.
The workshop is open to pre-teens and teenagers currently residing in Wyandot County and enrolled in seventh through ninth grades.
This year’s workshop be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 12 and will run for two full weeks in the summer, June 4-15. Rehearsals the week of June 4 will take place from 1-4 p.m. The second week will be on a 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. schedule. Performances will be held on the evenings of June 15 and 16.
There is a $40 registration fee to cover the cost of a T-shirt and materials. A discount is offered to any family registering more than one child from the same family. The fee is payable at the time of registration or the first workshop day. Financial help will be available to any student in need. A maximum of 20 applicants will be accepted into this year’s program.
