Lortz students compete in national piano auditions

Piano students of Louise  Lortz, of rural Upper Sandusky, recently participated in the 2012 National Guild Piano Playing Auditions in Bucyrus.
More than 100,000 piano students throughout the U.S. and abroad took part in the event held in more than 880 music centers. Participants earned pledge, local, district, state, national  or international honors in accordance with the number of standard classic, romantic and modern pieces from the “Masters of Piano” literature.
Local students presenting several musical arrangements before a qualified examiner were Alaina Tiell, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jamey Tiell, of Carey; Abby Thiel, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thiel, of Upper Sandusky; and Jana Radabaugh, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Radabaugh, of Upper Sandusky.
Each student received a certificate, pin and a one-year membership in the National Fraternity of Student Musicians, student division of American College of Musicians and Piano Hobbyists of the World. The fraternity is sponsored by the Nation Guild of Piano Teachers, the teacher division of the American College of Musicians, of which Lortz is a member.
