Bucyrus Little Theatre to have ‘Annie’ auditions

BUCYRUS — The Bucyrus Little Theatre is holding auditions for the musical “Annie.”
Seven girls between the ages of 6 and 14 are needed for the roles of Annie and the orphans. Auditions for those parts will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 29 at the theater, 130 Songer Ave., Bucyrus.
Attendees should bring their own music and be prepared to sing a short number. A pianist will be available. Attendees are not to bring CDs or tapes.
Twelve men and seven women are needed for principal roles and chorus numbers. Those auditions will be held at 5 p.m. Sept. 30.
The musical is set in December 1933 and America is deep in the midst of the Great Depression. On the Lower East Side of New York, the Municipal Orphanage Girls’ Annex has been the drab home of 11-year-old Annie for all but the first two months of her life when she was left on the front steps of the orphanage with an unsigned note saying, “Please take good care of our little darling. Her name is Annie.”
This popular Broadway success showcases such familiar songs as “Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard-Knock Life.” The book is by Thomas Meehan, the music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin.
