‘Annie’ to take Palace stage

MARION — The award-winning Broadway musical “Annie” will be performed on the Marion Palace Theatre stage in July.
A family favorite since it premiered on Broadway in 1977, “Annie” features familiar songs such as “Tomorrow” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life.” It is the tale of a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan.
In a fun-filled musical adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil schemes, befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and finds a new family and home in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy. This local production is directed by Clare Cooke and stars local talent.
Annie performances at the Marion Palace Theatre are at 8 p.m. July 14, 20 and 21 and 2 p.m. July 15 and 22. Ticket sales begin at 9:00 a.m. Monday and are $40 for patrons, $22 or $17 for adults and $12 for children 12 years and younger.
For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Marion Palace Theatre box office at 740-383-2101 or visit www.marionpalace.org.
