CAREY — Every year, the Carey girls basketball team schedules a few non-conference games against teams from the Blanchard Valley Conference. The Blue Devils have defeated Arcadia and Riverdale this year, but past losses to Liberty-Benton and Riverdale last season still sting.

SYCAMORE — Ryan Lacey’s hot start was enough for Mohawk to end a long losing streak to Wynford, 49-43, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Saturday night. Lacey hit four of his six 3-pointers and scored 14 of his 20 points in the first quarter to lead the Warriors (4-2, 4-1 N10) on a night when shots were not falling for the rest of his teammates.

BUCYRUS — Ryan Evans scored 30 points to lead Bucyrus to its first victory while keeping Riverdale winless, 68-64, in a non-conference boys basketball game Saturday night. Kyle Hamm added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Redmen (1-6), who got their first win under new coach Justin Mattix, an Upper Sandusky High School graduate.

ATTICA — As soon as Upper Sandusky senior guards Megan Hensel and Abigail Fogle found their shot, there was no stopping the Rams. With their team trailing by six points at the start of the third quarter, Hensel and Fogle combined to score 32 points and hit six 3-pointers in the second half as the Rams snapped their two-game losing streak...

SYCAMORE — After an 0-7 start, the Wynford girls basketball team is glad to call two straight victories a winning streak. Led by Olivia Grove’s 15 points, the Royals (2-7, 1-4 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) gradually pulled away for a 51-33 victory Friday night at Mohawk.

CAREY — Carey dominated the fourth quarter to pull away for a 53-34 victory against New Riegel in a non-conference boys basketball game Friday night.

LEIPSIC — Brock Davis scored 28 points with seven 3-pointers, but it was not enough as Riverdale fell, 66-57, to Leipsic in a Blanchard Valley Conference boys basketball game Friday night.

BUCYRUS — Wynford and Carey traded shots down the stretch Thursday night. Trey Bame and the Blue Devils made the most of having the last chance. Bame’s corner 3-pointer in the closing seconds gave Carey a 60-58 victory in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game that featured multiple big shots in the final minutes.

Each time the Buckeye Central boys basketball team made a run, the Upper Sandusky Rams had an answer. With clutch shooting, second-chance opportunities and forced turnovers, the Rams held on to defeat the Bucks 68-63 on Thursday at Upper Sandusky High School.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale girls basketball team overcame another slow start to defeat Vanlue 50-46 with a strong second half on Thursday. The Falcons have gotten off to shaky starts in the first quarter all season, and they trailed 16-6 after eight minutes.
