Devils start fast, run past Warriors

SYCAMORE — Carey ran out to a big early lead to blitz Mohawk, 64-23, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game Saturday. The Blue Devils (14-1, 9-1 N10) led 16-4 after one quarter, 37-7 at halftime and 56-12 after three quarters.

Upper teams top Wynford, Bucyrus

BUCYRUS — The Upper Sandusky swim teams wrapped up the regular season with senior night victories against Bucyrus and Wynford on Friday evening at the Bucyrus YMCA. The Rams girls scored 112 points to the Redmen’s 36 and the Royals’ 7.

Hayman’s 17 points, 9 steals lead Mohawk

SYCAMORE — Zach Hayman had 17 points and nine steals to lead Mohawk to a 56-21 blowout victory of Arcadia in a nonconference boys basketball game Saturday night. Keith Jenkins added 13 points, and Chris Klopp scored 10 points for the Warriors (9-5).

SYCAMORE — Colonel Crawford has completed its toughest stretch of schedule still atop the Northern 10 Athletic Conference standings. In their third straight road game against a league contender, the Eagles pulled away down the stretch for a 52-42 victory at Mohawk on Friday night.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — A monster second quarter for the Riverdale Falcons propelled them from being down 6-10 against Arcadia to having a 40-11 lead at halftime. The run was all the host Falcons needed to take down the Redskins by a score of 55-30 in a Blanchard Valley Conference game on Friday.

Royals roll to win over Rockets

BUCYRUS — Wynford built a huge early lead and ran away with a 65-34 victory against Ridgedale in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball game Friday night. The Royals led 19-5 after one quarter and 38-9 at halftime. They extended their advantage to 54-17 before the start of the fourth quarter.

Warriors 4th after 1 day at Van Buren

VAN BUREN — Mohawk has five wrestlers in the semifinals and is in fourth place among 29 teams Friday after one day of the Van Buren Invitational wrestling tournament. The Warriors’ Daniel Price (138 pounds), Morgan Price (145), Rico Lopez (152), Parker Brown (160) and Nick Theis (220) all reached the semifinals, as did Carey’s Reece Mullholand (113) and Tanner May (182).

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale girls basketball team put up a fight, but it was no match for red-hot Leipsic in girls basketball action Thursday evening. Leipsic rolled to its 12th straight victory by a final score of 58-40.
