In a game featuring a pair of teams that defend well but sometimes struggle to score, Ridgedale made 23 foul shots in 29 attempts to top Mohawk, 51-46, and assure itself a sixth-place finish in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball standings.

Blue Devils start fast to take easy 59-33 win over Redmen

CAREY — The Carey girls basketball team jumped out to a huge first quarter lead against Bucyrus on Friday night and never looked back, winning 59-33 in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference battle. The Blue Devils (19-2, 13-2 N10) jumped in front of Bucyrus 20-2 in the first quarter and kept up the pressure, entering halftime with a commanding 32-8 lead.

Ritter’s 32 points carry Cory-Rawson

RAWSON — A rough third quarter proved costly for Riverdale in a tightly contested Blanchard Valley Conference boys basketball match up Friday night against Cory-Rawson. The Falcons came out halftime with the score knotted up, but were outscored by nine in the decisive third quarter, eventually losing to Cory-Rawson, 63-57.

Sen-San-Wyan League sets meeting

TIFFIN — The first organizational meeting for all coaches of the Sen-San-Wyan softball league is 7 p.m. March 7 in the Upper Room at the St. Joseph Activity Center on Melmore Street in Tiffin. This instructional league is open to all girls in the surrounding areas and no girl will be denied participation on her home team.

St. Paul 2 sweeps again

St. Paul Lutheran Church 2 added to its winning streak and its lead in the Wyandot County Church Dartball standings with a sweep Thursday of Trinity United Church of Christ of McCutchenville, 2-0, 7-5 and 9-0.

Carey High School senior Destiny DeFeo signed her national letter of intent to play basketball at Heidelberg University. “I got the chance to meet the team and they were really nice and I like them,” DeFeo said.
