Eagles fly higher than Falcons

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Colonel Crawford swept Riverdale, 25-9, 25-10, 25-13, in a nonconference volleyball season opener Saturday at Riverdale. Tayler Ashburn led the Falcons (0-1) with four kills, six digs and two blocks.

Red Devils win close set, sweeps

ARLINGTON — Arlington held off Wynford in the first set and then coasted after that, sweeping the Royals, 26-24, 25-10, 25-14, in a nonconference volleyball match Saturday. The Red Devils’ Jenna Pepple had seven kills, with Hailey Essinger contributing six.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale scored three goals in the final 20 minutes to turn a deficit into a 4-2 victory against Cory-Rawson in its girls soccer season opener Friday night in North Central Ohio Soccer Association play. Payton Rodriguez and Haley Frey each scored a pair of second-half goals during a downpour for the Falcons.

The Upper Sandusky boys golf team remained undefeated with a 171-189 victory over Carey on Friday at Lincoln Hills Golf Course. Brett Montgomery was the medalist with a 33, while freshman Owen Knapp shot a 45.

Wynford finishes 7th in Tiffin Invite

TIFFIN — Abby Underwood’s 106 led Wynford in the Tiffin Invitational girls golf tournament Friday at Seneca Hills Golf Course. The Royals came in seventh with a 449. Ashland topped Shelby, 328-339, with third-place Perkins way out of contention with a 389.
