Upper Sandusky junior guard Mason Vent’s first shot was nothing but air. His last shot was nothing but net. With 7.6 seconds remaining and the game tied at 45, Cameron McCreary received the inbounds pass from Jason Holly and dribbled to his right to the top of the key, where he tried to drive into the paint but three of the Eagles’ defenders guarded it.

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central did not cash in on its chances at the foul line but it found a way to get the job done anyhow. That way was offensive rebounding. The Bucks grabbed 21 of their own misses, resulting in 25 second-chance points as they picked up their first win, 60-58 in overtime against Wynford on Saturday night.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Fouls. Blasted fouls. Throughout the duration of the Riverdale girls basketball team’s matchup with Bucyrus on Saturday, committing fouls was a trend neither team could reverse, as the Falcons and Redmen combined for at least 40 fouls and 80 free throws.

TIFFIN — Hot-shooting Upper Sandusky stayed close with Tiffin Columbian for one half but the Tornadoes’ combination of size and quickness was too much when the Rams went cold in a 59-43 loss Saturday.

SYCAMORE — The Hopewell-Loudon girls basketball team scored in double figures in the first three quarters on the way to a 54-28 victory over Mohawk on Saturday at Mohawk High School.

BUCYRUS — Upper Sandusky competed Saturday in the Bucyrus Invitational wrestling tournament. Complete results were not available. Only the first two rounds of results in the pool play tournament were posted.

BELLEVUE — Tanner May was named the most valuable wrestler and Ethan Schlack also earned a weight class championship as Carey finished fifth in the Bob Bailey Invitational on Saturday at Bellevue.

OLIVESBURG — Morgan Price went 3-1 and James Clouse was 2-1 to lead Mohawk in the Cougar Classic on Saturday at Ashland Crestview. Price won twice by decision and once by technical fall and lost an 8-5 decision at 160 pounds. Clouse had a pair of pins and lost a 9-2 decision at 220 pounds.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Alec Loveridge scored 17 points to lead Riverdale to an undefeated weekend with a 61-42 victory against New Riegel on Saturday at Riverdale. The Falcons (2-2) picked up their first win of the season by topping Pandora-Gilboa in overtime.
