Marquart shuts out Mohawk

SYCAMORE — Cole Sowers doubled in a run in the first at-bat of the day Friday as Upper Sandusky won 3-0 in the completion of a suspended game against Mohawk at Mohawk. The game was called last week because of rain in the top of the second inning with one out and Brenyn Marquart at first base after he singled. He scored right away Friday on Sowers’ double. Sowers took third on a wild pitch and scored on a Jason Holly groundout.

Falcons girls 6th, boys 8th

FINDLAY — Riverdale’s girls were sixth and the boys tied for eighth in the Blanchard Valley Conference Meet on Friday at Liberty-Benton. Riverdale’s girls finished with 57.5 points, while the boys scored 20. The host Eagles won both titles, with the girls scoring 147 points and the boys scoring 137.5 points. Runners-up were Leipsic’s girls with 76.5 points and Pandora-Gilboa’s boys with 99.5 points.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk won the 750th game in program history as it swept Ridgedale in a double header 10-3 and 18-0 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball play Friday in Sycamore. The Rockets (12-10, 4-10) played close with the Warriors (17-9, 9-7 N10) into the fourth inning of the first game, but it was all Mohawk after that. Ridgedale led 3-2 going to the bottom of the fourth in the first game, but was outscored 26-0 after that.

Blue Devils hold off Redskins 6-5

ARCADIA — Facing his last batter because of the pitch count limit, Reece Mullholand got a groundball for the final out as Carey held on for a 6-5 victory against Arcadia in a nonconference baseball game Friday at Arcadia. The Redskins scored once in the bottom of the seventh inning and loaded the bases before the final out.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk showed just how good it can be if it can get strong pitching to go with its consistently powerful offense. MaKenna Hurley limited Wynford to three hits without a walk and struck out six as the Warriors rolled past Wynford 11-1 in five innings in a Division IV sectional final game Thursday in Sycamore.
