The Upper Sandusky girls tennis team had a welcome addition to the lineup and defeated Kenton 4-1 on Wednesday. Japanese exchange student Saki Fukuta stepped into the No. 2 singles spot and took a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Lily Osborn.

Upper Sandusky finally was at full strength with the return of senior Evan Young to the lineup, and the Rams boys golf team won a tri-match over Bellevue and Elmwood on Wednesday at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. The Rams (5-0) shot a 160, with the Redmen scoring a 181 and the Royals shooting a 232.

WILLARD — Coming off a state final four season, Seneca East was a nearly unanimous pick to win the Northern 10 Athletic Conference football championship this season by media voting at the 224 Varsity Club on Wednesday night.

NEW WASHINGTON — The Upper Sandusky girls golf team picked up its second win of the week by defeating three-time defending Northern 10 Athletic Conference champion Buckeye Central 234-279 in a dual Wednesday at Cranberry Hills Golf Course.

TIFFIN — Autumn Enders medaled with a 51 as Seneca East handed Mohawk a 227-229 loss in its Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls golf opener Wednesday at Clinton Heights Golf Course.

GALION — Colonel Crawford edged Wynford 237-238 to remain the last undefeated team in Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls golf play Wednesday at Valley View Golf Course. Katie Reynolds medaled with a 51 to lead the Eagles (2-0, 2-0 N10). Chelsea Daubenspeck added a 59, Maci Risner shot a 61, and Mariah Cotsamire’s 66 was just good enough to make Colonel Crawford a winner. Lexie Hillman (67) and Katie Hanft (68) also played.

FOSTORIA — The Carey golf team is feeling quite comfortable at its new home course, shooting a 162 to beat Riverdale and Arlington in a tri-match Wednesday at Lakeland Golf Course. The Blue Devils (5-0) had consistent scores throughout their lineup, getting 40s from both Brayden Miller and Carter Frederick and 41s from Ethan Tanner and Mckain Miller. Peyton Young shot a 44, and Kole Phillips finished with a 47.

TIFFIN — Fremont Ross defeated Mohawk 205-231 in a non-conference girls golf match Tuesday at Seneca Hills Golf Club. Hayden Heilman led the Warriors (0-1) with a 54, while Alyana Kindle was right behind with a 55. Emmah Danner shot a 60, and Kaidan Mathias added a 62. Kennedy Pettry (65) and Joselyn Eader (69) also played in the varsity lineup.

Brett Montgomery shot a 4-under par nine-hole 32 as Upper Sandusky rolled past Colonel Crawford 160-225 on Tuesday at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. Montgomery birdied holes 2 and 8 and eagled No. 4 to outshine the outstanding even-par 36 posted by Owen Knapp, who birdied Nos. 1, 8 and 9. Ben Latham added a 45, and Gavin Carey shot a 47 for the Rams (2-0, 1-0 Northern 10 Athletic Conference).

NEW WASHINGTON — Buckeye Central posted five scores of 45 or better as it opened Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys golf play with a 170-183 victory against Wynford on Tuesday at Cranberry Hills Golf Course. The Royals’ Kayleb Keaton and the Bucks’ Logan Niese tied for medalist honors with 41s, but Buckeye Central had better depth.
