Winter Olympics

Four Angeline athletes recently took part in the Special Olympics Ohio State Winter Games at Brandywine Ski Resort. James Yoho (below) earned a gold medal in the glide, and Connor Swartz (above) was a silver medal winner in both the slalom and the downhill.

Sen-San-Wyan league to meet

TIFFIN — First first organizational meeting for all coaches in the Seneca-Sandusky-Wyandot girls softball league will be at 7 p.m. March 2 in the Upper Room at St. Joseph Activity Center on Melmore Street in Tiffin. The instructional league is open to all girls in the surrounding areas and no girl will be denied participation on her home team.

Fastpitch softball sign-ups for youth in kindergarten though eighth grade are 5:30-7:30 p.m. today and Friday and Feb. 17-19 at the Upper Sandusky Fire Department. Extra sign-up sheets will be available at sign-ups.

Hoops tourney to raise funds

BUCYRUS — A Hoops for Cancer 3-on-3 men’s basketball tournament is being held from 12-8 p.m. March 13 at Wynford High School. Registration is $20 (cash only) per team, and all money raised will be donated to the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

USMS hosting spring meeting

Upper Sandusky Middle School will host a spring sports parent meeting at 5 p.m. March 3 in the Union School auditorium. Parents of all spring sports athletes are expected to attend.

Mohawk holds on to finish .500 in N10

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk girls basketball team began the season with a goal of finishing .500 and cracking the top half of the Northern 10 Athletic Conference standings. Tuesday, the Warriors realized one of those goals and put themselves in position to achieve the other.

Bucyrus shuts down Wynford, 44-20

BUCYRUS — Wynford took away the Northern 10 Athletic Conference’s leading scorer Kelci Simms, and for much of the game, that kept the Royals in it despite a dreadful offensive night. But the Redmen finally figured things out, built a lead with a late third-quarter run and then pulled away for a 44-20 victory Tuesday night.

Carey finishes unbeaten in N10

NORTH ROBINSON — Carey bounced back from its first loss of the season against Liberty-Benton on Saturday with a 70-35 win at Colonel Crawford on Tuesday to finish 16-0 in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference. The Blue Devils (20-1) extended their league win streak to 50 games.
