Sixth-seeded Bluffton turned an 18-13 first-quarter lead into a 47-19 halftime advantage and stayed on the gas through the second half of a 99-34 win in a Division III sectional semifinal Wednesday.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida women’s golf team, coached by Upper Sandusky High School graduate Emily Bastel Glaser, won its third tournament of the season Tuesday, taking the title at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans. The nationally 11th-ranked Gators had four players finish in the top 25 in the 17-team field with a 54-hole score of 2-under par 862, one stroke better than No. 13 Oklahoma State.

ISTANBUL, Turkey — Upper Sandusky High School graduate Jon Diebler continues to shoot with the best of them in Europe. The former Ohio State University star who is the Big Ten’s all-time leader in 3-pointers has made 48.8 percent of his 3-point tries against the top teams in Europe in Euroleague play.

Angeline advances to West Sectional semifinal

TIFFIN — Angeline used a big third quarter to defeat the Huron County Christie Lane Bears, 53-40, in a tournament game Saturday at the Seneca County School of Opportunity in Tiffin. Angeline (8-5) trailed 19-14 at halftime before outscoring Christie Lane, 29-9, in the third quarter to take a 15-point lead into the fourth quarter.

Upper selling district semi girls tickets

Pre-sale tickets for Upper Sandusky’s girls basketball team’s Division II district semifinal game against Bellevue will be on sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Wednesday in the Upper Sandusky High School athletic office and from 5-7 p.m. today and 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday in the USHS main office.
