City council honors USHS swimmers

You go girls

Upper Sandusky High School’s swimmers were honored at Monday’s Upper Sandusky City Council meeting. The girls medley relay team of Maya Collins, Kamryn Swartz, Abbey Wenger and Katie Conley advanced to the state competition during the winter sports season. Wenger also individually qualified for state in the 100 breaststroke. All four girls were given certificates at the council meeting.

Carey resident: Village roads a ‘death trap’

CAREY — A concerned village resident stopped by Carey Village Council’s meeting Monday to discuss the roads in the village, which he said are now “nothing but a death trap.” Don Stock explained that the streetscape has made driving around town more dangerous because of visibility issues.

Carey BOE approves five-year forecast

CAREY — At its meeting, the Carey Exempted Village School District Board of Education unanimously approved the five-year forecast and assumptions. Treasurer Karen Phillips noted the five-year forecast was prepared using assumptions, which are based on the current state budget and information available at the present time, and all information is subject to change.

White Shutter wine-ds up for season

NEVADA — A new stage and several new brews highlighted the 2019 seasonal opening of the White Shutter Winery and Brewery on Saturday. Local band Grape Jam performed after the rain died down and food trucks from The Corner Inn and Whitetail Ridge also were available for attendees.

Safety blotter: May 6, 2019

A caller reported a breaking and entering attempt at the concession stand at American Legion Field in Sycamore the afternoon of May 1. Extra patrols were performed in the area. Mandeep S. Sandhu, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, was cited for failure to control after a semi truck he was driving was stuck in a yard on the 11000 block of CH 4 the afternoon of May 1.
