The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced key dates for farm owners and producers to keep in mind regarding the new 2014 farm bill-established programs, Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage.

Ohio promotes veteran farmers

REYNOLDSBURG — State officials today announced a new partnership between the state’s Ohio Proud marketing program and Homegrown by Heroes, a program that certifies agricultural products from farmers, ranchers and anglers who have served or still are serving in any branch of the U.S. military.

Fishing instructor workshops set

FINDLAY — Spaces are available for educators, leaders or conservation clubs who have an interest in taking kids fishing and want to become certified fishing instructors, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife.

State offers free hunter education

FINDLAY — Space is available for potential hunters who want to take Ohio’s hunter education course before many of the state’s popular seasons begin, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife.

Some hunting underway

FINDLAY — Hunting and trapping seasons began Monday for many of Ohio’s furbearers, including red and gray fox, raccoon, skunk, opossum, weasel, mink and muskrat, according to a press release from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

FINDLAY — Hunting seasons for ring-necked pheasant, cottontail rabbit and bobwhite quail will open in Ohio on Friday, according to a press release from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
