A Columbus man faces a maximum of three years in prison and a $10,000 fine after pleading guilty to a drug charge in Wyandot County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday. Michael L. Turner, 35, pleaded guilty to a third-degree charge of aggravated possession of drugs stemming from a traffic stop by a Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office deputy on U.S. 23 near Ohio 53 the morning of Nov. 7 in which methamnetamines were found in his vehicle.

A Findlay man who broke into the residence of a former girlfriend and held her against her will for several hours under the threat of a gun was sentenced to 12 years in prison on Tuesday. John R. Maag Jr., 29, received seven years in prison for aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony; and two years for aggravated kidnapping, a third-degree felony.

A Harper Woods, Michigan, man received the minimum mandatory sentence of two years in prison during a sentencing hearing Tuesday afternoon in Wyandot County Common Pleas Court. Jamaal R. Hazewood, 30, originally was charged with two counts of aggravated possession of drugs, second-degree felonies, and pleaded guilty to one of the charges.

Linda M. Conley, registrar of vital statistics at the Wyandot County Health Department, reports there were 11 births and 21 deaths in the county during October. Births include five females and six males; deaths include nine females and 12 males. Fifty-one certified birth and 89 certified death certificates were issued. Nineteen burial permits were issued.
