OLC plans novena

CAREY — The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation is inviting the public to attend the annual novena to Our Lady of Consolation in preparation for the feast of her Assumption from Aug. 6-14. The celebration of Mary’s assumption into heaven is the largest event at the shrine in Carey.

Local moms, kids get ready for Latch On

The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action organizes World Breastfeeding Week from Aug. 1-7 annually to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding and the need for global support. To mark the occasion, thousands of breastfeeding women and their babies and children across the world will gather in their own communities to take part in the global Big Latch On, a synchronized breastfeeding event.

Scutch and Sycamore churches plan for VBS

SYCAMORE — Sycamore United Church of Christ and McCutchenville’s Trinity United Church of Christ will co-host vacation Bible school from 6-8:30 p.m. Sunday through Aug. 6 at Sycamore UCC, 300 S. Sycamore Ave. Youth ages pre-kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to attend.

BuyWay sales slated

The Wyandot County Visitors Bureau is working with the Ohio Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor again this year to coordinate plans for the 11th Lincoln Highway BuyWay yard sales. Dates for this year’s event are Aug. 13-15.
