MARION — A Harpster woman has been named the third runner-up of the Miss Marion Popcorn Festival during a competition at River Valley High School. As third runner-up, Ranissa Harrison will receive a $200 scholarship.

DAYTON — A total of 2,058 students were recognized at Wright State University’s 2015 spring commencement. The list of graduates includes students who completed degree requirements during the spring semester.

Upper Sandusky High School will host freshmen and new student orientation at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 in the gymnasium. Only freshmen will be allowed to pick up their schedules at that time. If new students have already met with their guidance counselor, they also will be able to pick up schedules.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk Local Schools will host orientation for all seventh- and eighth-grade students and their parents at 6 p.m. Aug. 17. The session will begin with a general meeting in the performing arts center.

Open Door Resource Center will sponsor a school supply drive for local students again this year. BUCYRUS — United Way will sponsor a stuff-the-bus campaign through Saturday at the Bucyrus Public Library. Members of the public are invited to donate any school supply, such as pens, pencils, crayons, markers, erasers and tissues. TIFFIN — Fifty-three descendants of Ludwig (Louis) Rothlisberger and Anna Minder, who immigrated from Switzerland in 1889, gathered for their annual reunion at the residence of Bill and Judy Theis near Tiffin.

CAREY — The 2015 Carey Fest queen will be crowned at ceremonies Friday at the gazebo at John Carey Park. The candidates are Hunter Jacoby, Diana Nordyke and Lexi Patterson, all seniors at Carey High School.
