FINDLAY — The American Red Cross will host a card-making party as part of its Holiday Mail for Heroes program from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 19 at Beca House, 128 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky. Supplies for making cards will be provided.

Ghouls and goblins soon will take over the night in search of candy treats, prompting several local organizations to share safety tips for Halloween festivities. The American Red Cross of North Central Ohio, which is based in Findlay and includes Wyandot County, shared its “Lucky 13” tips for keeping families safe this holiday season.

October is National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month. In light of this observance, I would like to bring awareness to the issue of postpartum depression.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library has announced its slate of events for the month of November. The Knotty Hookers crochet club will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 3 and 17 at the library.

BUCYRUS — The Stories and Stitches book club will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Bucyrus Public Library. This month’s book is Rebecca Kelly’s “Portraits of the Past from the Tales at Grace Chapel Inn” series.

A program on grief entitled “Surviving the Holiday Season” will be offered from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Mohawk Community Library and at the same time Nov. 12 at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. The free workshop is sponsored by Upper Sandusky Counseling and Life Coaching.

The Wyandot County Council on Aging will offer a Veterans Day luncheon beginning at 11 a.m. Nov. 10.

A program entitled “Taking the Sting Out of Behavior” will be offered from 6:30-8 p.m. Nov. 18 in the cafeteria at Angeline School, 11028 CH 44. Participants will learn how to work with children to eliminate inappropriate behaviors and how to teach children skills necessary to self-monitor their actions.
