Diane and Alex Spitler, of Mount Blanchard, are the parents of a boy, Jack Thomas Spitler. He was born at 4:04 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. He weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 3/4 inches long. The maternal grandparents are Rita and Jim Wagner. The paternal grandparents are Shirley and Tom Spitler.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Motorcycle Ohio Rider Education Program online registration begins Jan. 26. Those wanting to learn how to ride a motorcycle or refresh their motorcycle safety skills can register at www.motorcycle.ohio.gov for one of the $50 courses scheduled throughout the state from March through November.

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Jan. 14 and is correct as of that date: Pets reported as missing since the previous report that have not been found include a black neutered male cat, a black and tan male shepherd mix with floppy ears, a red and white female American bulldog, an older neutered tan and white male beagle and a neutered male grey and white tiger cat.

The federal Centers for Disease Control has identified 16 topics which it says should be included in sex education classes offered to high school students in the U.S. Fewer than half of high schools and only a fifth of middle schools teach all 16.

As local communities continue to fight a drug problem, there are many issues with unknown effects on the future of our society. Young pregnant women who struggle with drug addiction are a major concern.

FINDLAY — The American Red Cross North Central Ohio Chapter is offering several adult and pediatric first aid, CPR and automatic external defibrillator courses in Findlay and Marion during February. Courses will be at 9 a.m. Feb. 6 and Feb. 27 at the Marion County Red Cross Office, 1849 Summerset Drive, Marion.

BUCYRUS — Bucyrus Public Library children’s librarian Barbara Scott will teach a class on creating mug-sized desserts between 2-4 p.m. Tuesday. Scott will teach the art of making the microwave mug cake and participants will take home a recipe book of ideas to try at home.
