Natasha Holbrook and Gary Chapman, both of Upper Sandusky, are the parents of a boy, Maddix Paul Chapman. He was born at 3:17 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.

Ohio energy bill help available

The Home Energy Assistance Program Winter Crisis Program began Nov. 1 and is to continue through March 31 or as long as funds remain available. The Winter Crisis Program was created to provide financial assistance, one time per heating season, to income eligible households who are threatened with disconnection of their heating source, have service already disconnected, need to establish new service or transfer service or have less than a 25 percent supply of bulk fuel.

Home-school event set

CRESTLINE — The Crawford Park District is inviting home-school students to learn about the night sky Thursday with an inflatable planetarium at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 Ohio 598, Crestline. Children ages 5-8 are invited to visit from 9-10 a.m. and children ages 9-12 will meet from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Humane Society: December 6, 2016

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Dec. 1 and is correct as of that date: Pets reported as missing since the previous report that have not been found include a red and white older springer spaniel, two female German shepherds, a black and white male heeler-fox terrier mix, a white and brindle neutered male bulldog-beagle mix, a gray male kitten, two female yorkies, a male black cat and a declawed neutered male yellow and white cat.

Meeting minutes: December 6, 2016

Worthy matron and deputy grand matron Marla Barber recently welcomed members to the December meeting of Warpole Chapter No. 366 Order of the Eastern Star with a poem. The conductress introduced Darcie Miller, grand representative of Oregon in Ohio.

Pine cone wreaths at park

CRESTLINE — The Crawford Park District will offer pine cone wreath crafts from 1-3 p.m. Dec. 11 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 Ohio 598, Crestline. The park district will provide the pine cones, a 12-inch wire form, ribbon and miscellaneous items from nature.

Tax prep volunteers sought

The local AARP-sponsored team that annually offers free tax preparation at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church is in need of volunteers. The caseload has increased from doing 60 tax returns the first year to more than 350 returns last year, according to a press release from the group.

Christmas decorating

A group of students, primarily second-graders from Upper Sandusky’s South Elementary School, visited the Wyandot County Museum on Tuesday to decorate trees for the Christmas open house taking place from 2-8 p.m. today and from 1-4 p.m. Sunday.

Hospital to offer diabetes course

The Wellness Center at Wyandot Memorial Hospital will offer its Living with Diabetes course to diabetics and their support people from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15 in the Bowman and Kirkland conference rooms on the hospital’s lower level.
