Carey area youth participated in a Christmas card community service project in December at the Dorcas Carey Public Library. The cards then were given to residents of Westbrook Assisted Living and Memory Care in Upper Sandusky.

US Olympian, NCAA national championship coach, to offer advice on ‘how to win at life’

FINDLAY — Two-time U.S. Olympian and former women’s basketball coach Sherry Winn, who led the University of Charleston’s team to two consecutive National Collegiate Athletic Association Elite Eight appearances and 11 successful seasons overall, will offer valuable leadership insight on the University of Findlay’s campus in January.

Library hosts drive for WCHS animals

Jana and Matthew Lortz, of Carey, are the parents of a boy, Brayden Everett Lortz. He was born at 6:07 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. The maternal grandparents are Lee and Jacala Kemerley, Carey. The paternal grandparents are Mary and Matt Schwenning.

FOREST — In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Forest-Jackson Public Library will accept donations through the month of January for the Wyandot County Humane Society. Needed items include wet and dry pet food, new or used sheets, blankets and towels, household cleaning supplies including paper towels, Windex and Lysol wipes and other general pet supplies.
