TOLEDO — Thousands of people have responded to the emergency call for blood and platelet donations issued by the American Red Cross in early July. Still, there continues to be an emergency need for donors of all blood types, especially type O, to give now to address a severe blood shortage.

A series of three one-hour long programs is being offered by the SNAP-Ed program assistant from the Wyandot County OSU Extension service. Tami Baumberger once again will conduct a series of Cooking with Tami sessions at the Open Door Resources Center in Upper Sandusky.

Karlee Norwood, age 2, completed the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program through The Mohawk Community Library.

COLUMBUS — Dillon Barto, of Upper Sandusky, has been selected to participate in the 2019 Ohio Legislative Service Commission Legislative Fellowship Program.

Cooking Matters hands-on courses empower families and individuals with the skills to be self-sufficient in the kitchen. This July and August, participants from Angeline Industries and Tami Baumberger, Ohio State Extension Wyandot county SNAP-Ed program assistant, have come together each week to share lessons and meals with each other.

Upper Sandusky Elks No. 83 recently distributed its annual Backpack program and food drive for the food pantries of Wyandot County.

The 85th annual Jacob Peter and Sarah Jane (Height) Bear family reunion took place recently at Salem United Methodist Church in Mifflin Township with 30 in attendance. The Rev. Charles Dillman led the group in the blessing of the bounteous spread.

VANLUE — The annual Vanlue Festival is today through Saturday. The 5K run and walk begins at 7 p.m. today, with a kids fun run at 8 p.m. The entry fee is $20 for the 5K and $10 for the kids fun run. BUCYRUS — Colonel Crawford Local Schools Superintendent Todd Martin will be the guest speaker for the 8 a.m. Aug. 8 men’s community breakfast in the Bucyrus Community Hospital cafeteria. Women are invited to attend.
